APMEN holds first Surveillance and Response Training in Wuxi, China

13 November 2014

The Asia Pacific Malaria Elimination Network (APMEN) Surveillance and Response Training, held in Wuxi, China at the Jiangsu Institute of Parasitic Diseases (JIPD) from October 20-29, brought together 53 participants to increase knowledge of transitioning malaria programs from control to elimination. The training, co-funded by the UCSF Global Health Group and the China Ministry of Commerce and facilitated by JIPD, focused on country-specific surveillance and response strategies including active case detection, stratification processes, and surveillance data analysis. Implementing strong surveillance and response systems are crucial to achieving and sustaining malaria elimination and are an important part of the WHO malaria-free certification process.
