Preventing reintroduction in Mauritius

Mauritius has maintained zero local cases of malaria since 1998 by maintaining a rigorous passenger screening program and strong surveillance and response. Despite its high receptivity and vulnerability, the country has been able to prevent reintroduction of malaria. This case study reviews malaria control, elimination and prevention of reintroduction in Mauritius in order to assist other countries in strategizing for malaria elimination.
