UCSF Global Health Group’s Malaria Elimination Initiative (MEI)

Allison Phillips

Allison Phillips is the Deputy Director of the UCSF Global Health Group’s Malaria Elimination Initiative (MEI). Allison joined the project in 2008 and was the founding team member of the MEI. Allison’s role is to co-lead the MEI’s strategy, donor engagements, partner relations, and team operations. Allison has a specific interest in securing an enabling environment for countries and regional initiatives to successfully eliminate malaria, and she contributes to various research efforts across the group.

With over 15 years of global public health experience, Allison has led large-scale HIV and malaria prevention education programs in rural Tanzania, worked with McKinsey & Company to recommend investment opportunities in the private health sector across Africa, provided support to HIV/AIDS patients in Thailand, and researched the relationship between modern and traditional medicine in India. Allison has a BA in Medical Anthropology from Lewis & Clark College.
