Andrew Lover, MS, MPH, PhD, is the Technical Program Coordinator for the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded project “Preparing Lao PDR for Malaria Elimination,” while also supporting projects in Vietnam.
Andrew was originally trained as a research chemist at Earlham College and Univ of California, Santa Barbara. After 7 years of drug discovery research in the pharmaceutical-biotech sector (ICOS Corporation; Gilead), he transitioned into global health, obtaining both an MPH and PhD from the National University of Singapore's Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health. During this time, he did field work in Timor-Leste, Cambodia, and Western Kenya. His main research interests are field epidemiology, vivax malaria, dynamics of vector-borne disease, and health systems strengthening for malaria elimination.
